Young Minds Preschool

Philosophy

Philosophy:

We believe all children deserve an equal opportunity to learn and develop to their greatest potential while realizing that each one is a unique individual. We feel parents are the first and most important teacher in a child’s life and for this reason it is critical to have a close partnership with each family at our center. We also feel that with the right resources and perseverance all of our teachers and parents will succeed in exposing our children to a learning experience that will foster a positive and enriching sense of self and respect for others.

Mission:

Our mission is to provide a pathway to learning for all young children. We aid them in developing a positive self-image, and through our child-focused programming, we foster a joy of learning. The opportunity to learn is introduced through developmentally appropriate activities and hands on learning experiences. These activities are designed to develop skills in the areas of social, physical, and cognitive growth. This opportunity, available to all children and their families, is presented in a warm and accepting environment that encourages a sense of security and trust.

Children learn in a positive, nurturing, stimulating atmosphere where they’re encouraged to solve problems, be independent, satisfy their natural curiosities, make choices, and understand the impact their actions have on themselves and others. “Thoughtful play” is productive play that develops self-esteem and cognitive skills. Teacher and child conversation is an important tool for the successful growth for our children. Whether in the make believe context or real experience one, our children are engaged in open ended conversation that aids their language growth as well as their social, cognitive, and emotional growth. We believe that an eclectic approach to education provides the opportunity for a balance between adult- and child-initiated activities which in turn will cater to the teaching of the “whole child”.
